Dr. Andreas S. Panayides (EMBS and SPS Joint Cyprus Chapters Chair, Senior IEEE Member) is a Visiting Assistant Professor at ivPCL and a Senior Research Fellow with the Electronic Health (eHealth) Laboratory of the University of Cyprus. Formerly, he was the R&D project manager and Biomedical Imaging area leader of the Integrated Precision Medicine Technologies (IPMT) – Teaming Phase 1 project (2017-2018). From 2012 to 2014 he was a Marie Curie Fellow with the Communications and Signal Processing group at Imperial College. His research interests are in adaptive video processing and delivery for real time applications, computer vision for healthcare applications, interactive and distributed analytics of large-scale image and video databases, and mHealth and eHealth systems and services. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and book chapters, in these areas. He was the lead Guest Editor of IET Healthcare Technology Letters, Special Issue on mHealth-Emerging Mobile Health Systems and Services, published in 2016 and is the Guest Editor of the forthcoming research topic on Connected Health: Status and Trends to be published by Frontiers in Digital Health in 2020. Dr. Panayides is actively involved in national and international research projects, funded by the European Commission, the Research and Innovation Foundation of Cyprus, and the National Science Foundation, USA. In 2016, he cofounded 3AHealth (3ahealth.com), a start-up company based in Cyprus, that provides integrated solutions for electronic health records (EHR) based on IHE interoperability profiles, where he holds the position of R&D Director.
